Why did IHP start Urupkid?
As a father of four, I know the challenges that today’s youths face. As a relative of both first responders and military personnel, I have experienced and understand their challenges as well. So throughout my life, I have expressed gratitude for all of my blessings by giving back to the community, which is why for the last 20 years, IHP staff have volunteered thousands of hours to our community’s youth, police, fire personnel, and military veterans.
TRAINING, MENTORING AND PROVIDING SUPPORT
From the societal and educational challenges surrounding COVID-19 to the psychological effects of the uncertainty and fear that currently permeate society, it’s no secret that our youth are growing up in unprecedented times. It’s also no secret that first responders experience an enormous amount of pressure and stress. Having experienced IHP’s positive impact on those populations, and with over 20 years of successful philanthropic work already invested, we decided to turn up our efforts so that we can reach even more in-need kids and first responders. Therefore, we decided to “Take Action to Make a Difference!” and formed URUPKID, Inc.
URUPKID, Inc. will lay the groundwork for us to expand the work that we started more than 20 years ago, allowing us to continue to be part of the reason why a widowed mother of three girls sees all of her IHP-trained daughters secure athletic scholarships. We want to continue to be part of the reason why a police officer, firefighter, or military veteran reverses their diseased state, becomes independent again, or chooses life over suicide. We want to continue to be a part of the healing our society needs, serving as a beacon of hope for our community by sharing time-tested principles and values with our youth and through expressions of gratitude and respect for those who allow us to live in peace. We want to provide a safe and positive place where anyone in need can find comfort, compassion, respect, inspiration, and motivation.
We have done our work, locally and globally, and will continue to do so to leave this world a little bit better than we found it. We have endeavored to make this world a better place by not only training individuals but by training the trainers that positively impact millions of individuals every day, guiding, changing, and saving lives. URUPKID, Inc. will allow us to get more trainers involved to continue this good work at a very local and personal level within our community.
